Aspiring new author Lisa Mangum visited Spanish Fork Junior High School and the Salem Library on Friday Oct. 9th. She is an editor for Deseret Book and has always had a love for reading and writing. The Hourglass Door is her first published book.

The Hourglass Door is an intense exciting concept of time travel. The main character, Abby, is tired of the same old routines and wants something exciting to happen in her life. She gets what she was hoping for when she meets a mysterious exchange student from Italy named Dante, who has a few secrets of his own.   Mangum taught the class about the writing process in general as well as her personal process of writing. She explained how she creates characters, how to connect characters to each other through different relationships, and how to structure a plot when writing for ourselves.  It was a thoughtful, well organized presentation that everyone enjoyed it.
