The Utah finals of the National Geographic Bee were held Friday, April 9th, at Thanksgiving Point. Spanish Fork Junior High student, Tanner McKay, son of Dan and Kristine McKay, finished 4th place at this prestigious event.

Thousands of students took part in their individual school Bees which are open to students in fourth through eighth grades. School winners must then take a written exam to qualify for one of one-hundred slots at the state finals. Tanner performed exceptionally well in the preliminary rounds finishing in the top ten, entitling him to compete in the final round with nine other contestants. Congratulations Tanner for finishing fourth! Anthony Cheng, a sixth- grade student at Peruvian Park Elementary School was the state winner. He will now compete with the other state winners in Washington D.C. for the national finals in May.
