Casey “Gub” Nelson has been selected by his peers to be the teacher of the month at SFJHS.  Coach Gub is an outstanding teacher; he is respected by both his co-workers and students.  He is also a great role model.  Mrs. Binks stated, “Gub has gone the extra mile to help our new teacher Monte Morgan get things going for his classes.  He is always prepared with clear written instructions on the board and he has great classroom control”.

On the 18TH of October, selected members of Mr. LeMmon, Ms. Carter, and Ms. Lundgren's World Studies, 9TH grade classes, got the chance to visit the Hare Krishna Temple. The classes first went to the temple to learn about the Hinduism religion.

Members of the temple told us about why they have Holi-- The Festival of Colors. Spanish Fork's Holi Festival is the largest in the western hemisphere. It has over 120, 000 people attend each year.

Championship Wrestling is a Spanish Fork Junior High tradition.  It is exciting for students all over the school who plan on participating.

The head coach, John Webb was the former head coach at Weber State, the head assistant coach at BYU, and an assistant coach at Oklahoma State. The assistant coach Dave Clark has been a former coach at Cedar High School and an assistant coach at Spanish Fork High School.  These coaches are the reason that we are able to have a wrestling team in the first place.

Student #1

By Tristan Anderson

This student is in 9th grade and is a female. She has lived in one state her whole life, and that is of course Utah! She enjoys playing softball and loves munching on Berry’s fries. She has four siblings and is terrified of spiders.

Her most embarrassing moment is when she was at Maceys grocery store; she got inside a car that she thought was hers.  When she looked again, it was the wrong car. She flew out the door and felt so embarrassed.

This fall, the girls’ volleyball team completed a full schedule.  Their season started in August and lasted until October 23rd.  The volleyball team had an amazing season playing 7 preseason games and 10 regional games.  The team was mostly successful with some wins and some losses.

Our Lobos played all over Utah including Hillcrest, Clearfield, Payson, Carbon, and of course at home.  The coaching staff includes: Andrew Richards and his Assistants Diana Troyer, Kenneth Ainge, and Michele Morley.  The girls did great and can’t wait for next year! Thanks for the amazing season!
