 School Begins One Week from Today

The first day of school will be Tuesday, August 23rd.  Please note that the first bell rings at 7:55am and classes will begin promptly at 8:00am. Also be aware that early out day has changed and school will release at 1:55pm on Mondays instead of Wednesdays in order to allow for teacher collaboration meetings.  Tuesdays through Fridays the school day will be from 8:00am to 2:40pm.  

 7th Grade Day and SFJHS Open House – Monday, August 22nd  

All 7th graders are invited to attend 7th Grade Orientation on Monday, August 22nd from 9:00-11:00am.  7th graders will have the opportunity to attend an orientation assembly, go to each of their classes, meet their teachers and practice opening their lockers. Busing will not be provided so please plan your own transportation as needed. Later that same day from 1:00-3:00pm there will be an Open House for students of all grades and their parents/guardians. Teachers will be in their rooms and available to answer any questions you may have.

 Be a Part of PTA This Year

Come to the PTA table during the SFJHS 7th Grade Orientation and Open House on August 22nd if we missed you on registration day!  Sign-ups will be available for various committees but if you aren't able to donate your time to a committee, your contribution of $5 cash or check (payable to SFJHS PTA) is a great help in our efforts to enhance the experiences of students and staff at SFJHS.  We are also looking for a PTA member willing to coordinate our two Book Fairs this coming year.  SFHS Las Chalitas Jr. Drill Clinic

All Girls & Boys ages 3-12 (Boys Hip Hop Class) are invited to participate in the SFHS Las Chalitas Jr. Drill Clinic on August 29th through 31st from 3:30-4:40pm. The cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt. Registration Options: Today, Aug. 16th 3-5 pm @ SFHS or Pay at SFHS finance office by Aug. 29th.  School Community Council

If you are a parent of a student at Spanish Fork Junior High and would like to serve on the School Community Council for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years, contact Paul Barber at paul.barber@nebo.edu or by phone at 801-798- 4075.  There are 3 open positions and the election will be held during the week of Aug. 29th - Sept. 2nd (If necessary). The council meeting schedule is currently the first Monday of the month at 12:00 noon.

 Free/Reduced Lunch

Applications for free/reduced school lunch must be completed online. To apply for free or reduced lunch visit the Nebo District - Parent Home Page https://www.nebo.edu/parents and click on “Free & Reduced Lunch Information”.  Please do this as soon as possible so your student can receive free/reduced lunch on the first day.

 Golf Team Tryouts

Do you know how to play golf and love it? If you have golf experience and are interested in playing competitively, sign up for golf tryouts now in the front office. Tryouts begin August 30th - Green Fees of $12 apply for tryouts only (without a Spanish Oaks Jr. Pass).

7th Grade Immunization Reminder

To attend the 7th grade in Utah a student must have proof of receiving the Meningococcal vaccine and the Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis (Tdap) booster. Your student will not be able to attend 7th grade without the school having this information on file. Parents are asked to bring in or mail in a copy of the immunization document from the Health Department or doctor’s office as proof of required vaccinations.
