Mr. Jason Beardall Receives the 212 Award

Jason Beardall received the "212-Degree Award" this morning in our Professional Development Meeting from Principal Robert Fleming.  Mr. Beardall runs our lunch-time detention, coaches, and teaches health classes here at Spanish Fork Junior High School.  Most of all, Mr. Beardall works with students to improve their lives.  Congratulations!

Crystal Apple Award Goes To Mrs. DeeAnn Binks

The Crystal Apple Award this year at Spanish Fork Junior High School was given to Mrs. DeeAnn Binks.  Mrs. Binks teaches Girls Physical Education classes here and is more than deserving of this recongition.  Besides teaching huge classes, she get to know her students personally and mentors them on a level that the rest of us could learn from.  Her students know they can rely on her for support and compassion!

Mr. Eric Ferrin wins Afterschool club leader of the year by Utah County 4-H

Mr. Eric Ferrin, a long-time teacher from Spanish Fork Junior High was recently honored with the award for Afterschool club leader of the year by Utah County 4-H.  Mr. Ferrin has volunteered to be a club leader for the 4-H Afterschool program every term since it began at Spanish Fork Jr. High.  He is currently in his fourth year of leading a club and that alone is worth mentioning.  Besides being a teacher here at Spanish Fork Junior High, Mr.

BYU Engineering and Technology Fair

Mr. Brad Dayton took his Exploring Tech classes to the BYU Engineering and Technology Fair on February 24th. They watched student made 3D animation films, saw solar airplanes, an electric car that went 180 miles per hour at the Salt Flats, a laser operated vehicle race and many more cool things. Students also participated in many challenges: paper tower construction, egg boat floating, paper airplane making, nail hammering contest and more.

SFJHS takes HALF the spots for the science fair at BYU!

The district science fair was on February 24, 2011. Spanish Fork Jr. High was represented very well. We qualified for half of the spots for advancement to BYU.

The students who qualified are:

8th grade
Adam Boden, John Horton, Ethan Adams, Kaitlyn Hallam, Kaitlyn Davis, Emily Miller, Andrea Findlay, Devri Adams, and Elizabeth Mitchell. Adam Boden took third overall and John Horton took first overall!

212 Award

Wednesday, February 9 during faculty meeting, Principal Robert Fleming awarded David Thacker the 212 Degrees Award for going above and beyond promoting Spanish Fork Junior High School.  David recently started a Twitter account for the school and also maintains our school web page.  He is always searching for student and teacher led events to highlight for the school's publicity and goes the extra mile to gather and showcase  what is going here at Spanish Fork Junior High School.  We appreciate the time, effort, and technology skills Mr.

SFJHS Boys Basketball Team Celebrates the End of the Regular Season

Recently the Spanish fork junior high basketball team met together to celebrate the end of the regular season at teammate Ammon Fifita’s house where they were able to eat some awesome Polynesian food. After Dinner the boys were treated to a surprise visit by BYU Quarterback Jake Heaps. Jake gave the boys some advice for their future, and encouraged them for their upcoming tournament this weekend.  Jake also talked about how excited he is about next year’s team that he has to play with.  One thing that both Spanish Fork Jr.

February Teacher of the Month

Brent Loveless is an English teacher at Spanish Fork Junior High. He has been teaching for 26 years, with all but one year at Spanish Fork Junior High. Brent graduated from Southern Utah University where he majored in English and minored on Physical Education.

Lady Lobos 2011

The Spanish Fork Junior High Lady Lobos Basketball Team had an incredible season full of growth and success. Preseason match-ups with Lehi, Lakeridge, and American Fork Junior High proved to be learning experiences that helped the Lobos recognize their own weaknesses and capitalize on their strengths throughout the remainder of season play. “We knew early on that shooting inside was going to be a struggle,” said Chris Thompson who coached the team with her husband Marv. “However,” Thompson went on to explain, “our girls have heart and determination—two things you can't coach.
