This week Mr. Madsen’s science students started reviewing for the end of year SAGE test. Trying to remember all the way back to the beginning of the year, the students got packets to review. The packets were filled with plenty of great things about gravity, mass, forces, and many more. The students were assigned to get in groups of two with the people at their table. The students took turns reading paragraphs of the review sheets and annotating their papers. By the time SAGE comes around, they will be ready to ace the test.

In the Dungeons and Dragons After-School Club, you get to play one of the most well-known roleplay games.  When surveyed during the club, all of the participants said that they enjoyed the club.  One of the players stated, “What I like about Dungeons and Dragons is that there is no goal—you can do what you want.”  Then there is the magic part of the club.  You can play Magic: The Gathering, but if you want your deck personalized, you will have to make your own deck.  The magic tournament is happening on May 3rd.  “One of the things

Board Game Club was a club that started in 3rd term.  It is over, but Parker Coe, who ran it, wants to do it again next year.  It was a fun club, with lots of different games. Kids played whatever games they wanted, and there were many to choose from.

Mrs Harmers 9th grade World Civilizations classes were able to experience life in a trench while learning about WWI. Students learned about the Christmas truce, poison gases, and conditions associated with trench warfare! 

Friday, April 27 was the Disney themed school dance! The dance was held in the lunch room, which was decorated by our impressive student council. There was also a costume competition. People had amazing costumes including Rapunzel, Bell, a Wizard, Queen Guinevere, and even some interesting background characters! It was well attended and everyone looked like they were having fun. There were plenty of beautiful decorations like silhouettes of Disney characters. The music ranged from Disney music to the Cupid Shuffle.

Pepper the Guinea Pig came into Mr. Madsen’s class today for the second time, surprising many students. As the classes continued on, students looked at her with adoration. All of the students from fifth period to seventh period had seen and petted her before, so this was a first for the first four periods of students. Mr. Madsen held and petted her often, and she is simply adorable according to most students. 

This last weekend, on April 20 and 21, members of our school’s National Junior Honor Society joined together to help with a BSA Eagle Project. The Eagle Project was for Caleb Pollock, a student at our school. The project began with clearing rocks from the school’s field. Shortly afterward, the volunteers helped to clear rocks off the retaining walls on the east side of the school. The next morning, the rocks were completely removed and the volunteers helped to spread mulch where the rocks had been.

In Mr. Madsen’s and Mr. Whiting’s science classes, the students had a great learning experience. They headed outside to a timeline in the track field to observe and learn about the Earth. Students learned about the Earth over time, and they learned about the geologic and biologic points of it. There were multiple stations to learn about. For example, the Precambrian, Phanerozoic, Cenozoic, and Quaternary periods.
