Building Graham Cracker Utahs Locks in Learning

If you visit SFJH on any given day, and peek through the door of a classroom, you will see some very creative teaching going on.  Case in point—Mrs. Harmer’s seventh grade Utah Studies class.  If you visited her room this week, you’d see students constructing models of the state out of graham crackers and using candy to show the features of Utah’s three distinct regions.

Parents, Students and Friends –

Parents: For our Pack Time this past week we've had lessons on 3 of the 7 decisions for success from the book The Traveler’s Gift.  (The first decision was shared last term.)  The central character, David, finds himself on an incredible journey through time where he visits various figures from history. Each character shares a vital Decision with David.  The decisions taught so far are:
  - The Buck Stops Here (Harry S. Truman)
  - I Will Seek Wisdom (King Solomon)

Write Outside Yourself: Haunts and Horrors

The UVU University & Community Writing Centers are accepting submissions for Vol. IV of Write Outside Yourself. Student writers in Utah junior high/middle or high schools may submit original works of writing for a chance to be guided through the publishing process, published in a print and online journal, and recognized at a celebration in June 2017.
