Submitted by david.thacker on

Mrs. Thompson's English classes participated in the annual Civil Rights Museum Walk on the last day of term two.

In conjunction with their study of Getting Away With Murder: The True Story of the Emmett Till Case, each student researched a picture from the civil rights movement and created a placard to display. As part of a post-unit study, author Chris Crowe will address students in an assembly during third period on January 28th and answer any questions they still have.

SFJH Eighth grade Animal Science students are learning about consumer products.  According to Ms. Warren, the origins of some products surprised some students.

“Students made butter as they learned about the dairy industry and the products we enjoy every day,” reports Ms. Warren.  “Cooking T-bone and sirloin steak was a success after they had learned where those cuts actually come from on a beef animal.”

Lady Lobos Win Last Three

The Lady Lobos took on the Provo Bulldogs on January 5th, 2016, after a long Christmas break.  Although it had been almost 3 weeks since their last game, the girls were ready to play.  Here is a report from Coach Shea Harmer.

“Our girls played awesome!  Provo was a very physical and aggressive team but we held our own and didn't let them dictate the game.  The Lady Lobos held Provo to only scoring 6 points the entire second half with zero points being scored in the 4th quarter.  This led to a victory of 41-18.”

Lobo Basketball Update

It’s been a while, but the SFJH Lobos’ basketball team has not been idle.  Here is a report we recently got from Coach Johnson.

“The boys’ basketball team returned from the long Christmas break ready to go.  They defeated cross-town rival Diamond Fork in a very physical game here at home.”

“They took to the court again on Monday against Springville on the road.  The team started off quick and intense.  Never looking back, they cruised to a big win over the Knights.”

Wise Man Visits Spanish Class at SFJH

Submitted by david.thacker on

A robed and bearded stranger was seen walking the halls of Spanish Fork Junior High this morning carrying boxes and boxes of cake.  Curious students and faculty followed him into Mr. Travis Moss’ room.  Interestingly enough, Mr. Moss was nowhere to be found, but the wise looking gentleman said that he was, indeed, a Wise Man, come from the East to bear good tidings and cake to all who would listen.  He then proceeded to teach Señor.
