Feel Good Friday!

This week my classes watched Disney’s Pocahontas and determined whether or not the information was fact or fiction. Right now we are finishing up our colonies unit. For one of our upcoming assignments the students are going to “create” a colonist and experience (read) what could happen to them. Hope everyone has an amazing week!

Band Field Trip to BYU

Submitted by david.thacker on

On Tuesday, October 4th, members of the SFJHS band were invited to attend the Rocky Mountain Band Invitational at BYU. They started their trip by observing a  BYU Wind Symphony rehearsal. 8th grader Nathan Whitaker wrote that he "learned that the BYU band would be fun to be a part of. I want to be a part of the BYU band one day". Porter Anderson said he enjoyed listening to the first song the BYU Wind Symphony Rehearsed because it was mysterious and the trumpets sounded cool.

What we've been doing: In Health 8 we've been learning about the different infectious and non-infectious diseases that commonly affect us. Students have been learning through discussions, experiences, research and projects and will end with peer reviewed  group presentations about a disease that runs in their family.

Mental Health Awareness Fair

Submitted by david.thacker on

Ms. Ross's Health II students participated in a Mental Health Awareness Fair on Thursday, September 29th. Each student was able to pick their own mental health topic to present and become an expert in. The purpose of this project is to reduce risk factors and enhance factors that promote positive mental and emotional health. They were able to teach several students from Health I and share helpful resources with students, teachers, and administration. We are so proud of the fabulous students who participated!
