How scared can you get in just thirty seconds?
Ms. Knecht's English 7 classes wrote their own Half-Minute Horror stories! Although these stories may have taken only thirty seconds to read, Ms. Knecht's students worked hard on their stories for weeks! From studying examples, to brainstorming their own unique ideas, to writing multiple drafts and working with their writing groups, to sharing their final stories with the class, Ms. Knecht's students showed they are true authors!
Check out some of their best sentences posted outside Ms. Knecht's classroom, room 35.
Ms. Knecht's Reading for Enjoyment students transformed into some of their favorite book characters last week!
You could find Dumbledore, Percy Jackson, everyone's favorite wimpy kid, Greg, and more hanging out and getting to know each other at the Reading for Enjoyment Halloween Party. But, they couldn't reveal their identity until the end of the party! They did a great job trying to guess each other's characters and bringing their own characters to life.
In October our SFJHS ESL class learned words relating to autumn and wrote haikus to demonstrate their understanding.
Students also brought pictures and shared stories of their deceased loved ones in honor of Dias de los Muertos last week. Many faculty members joined our celebration by placing a photo (or memento) on the altar in Mrs. Thompson's room to show their love for family members they have lost.
As you can see, the display was a beautiful tribute to those now departed.
The counselors will begin meeting with 8th grade students for their College & Career Readiness conferences this week. We value parent participation in these meetings and hope you'll be able to come! The appointments will be available through the end of November.
You will be able to meet individually with a counselor to discuss graduation requirements, high school credit, college, career, and scholarship information.
You will receive an email from your student’s counselor today with a link to sign up for an appointment time.
Exam Problem
A section of an exam contains four True-False questions. A completed exam paper is selected at random, and the four answers are recorded. Assuming the outcomes to be equally likely, find the probability that at most one of the four answers is “True.”
BASKETBALL TEAMS TRYOUTS
Basketball tryouts are November 11 from 3pm-5pm in the girls’ gym. You must have a current Physical Exam and a print out of your Term 1 grades to tryout! Talk to Coach Street or Coach Carlson with questions.
FALL CARNIVAL AND DANCE
FACS teacher Kayla Duckworth, Spanish Fork Junior High’s new FACS teacher, and her student were cooking up some spooky treats today in Foods class.
A Mongolian nomad, and a Costco sample-giver, Dorothy and crew from the Land of Oz, and four versions of Taylor Swift were just a few of the Halloween characters teaching today at Spanish Fork Junior High.
The faculty and staff love surprising students every year with their cool and very creative costumes.
