Fine Arts Assembly

Monday, May 20th, the Fine Arts Department at Spanish Fork Junior High School presented a wonderful assembly for the student body.   The orchestra students, taught by Angela Harman, played for our enjoyment.  The Seventh-grade orchestra sounded as if they have  been playing for years.  They have earned the best first year award at competitions earlier this spring.  Mr.

Coach Moss

Our Varsity team did great this year.  We tied for 2nd place at our end of the year tournament.  Daniel Camacaro and Garret Hales took 1st place in doubles (they did not lose a single match in the tournament!).  Overall our varsity team played with great composure and we surprised quite a few teams.

Our Junior Varsity also played really well at the district tournament where we ended up taking 5th place.  We got a lot of experience from our matches that day and most importantly had a lot of fun!

National Junior Honor Society

Mrs. Parker

“Students can make a difference in the world. Every year, thousands if not millions of American teenagers engage in meaningful service projects in their schools and communities. While there are many who might belittle the roles these students take, the evidence is clear - students today care enough to give of their time and their resources to improve the world around them. The proof is not difficult to find.”  These students are part of the National Junior Honor Society.

Mrs. Kaye Brockbank wins the Crystal Apple award

Joe Anson

As with most of our wonderful faculty, Kaye Brockbank is under-rated and under-appreciated although over-deserving and over-qualified to win the Crystal Apple Award.

Without a doubt, Kaye is one of the kindest, most selfless teachers and human beings.  She consistently gives of herself—her time, resources, and talents—to build up those around her.  She willingly helps out when others are in a pinch, even when she doesn't have to. Kaye is willing to go the extra mile for her students, her colleagues, and her family. All of her hard work and effort is appreciated.

Poetry Slam!

April 16 was the night for the Spanish Fork Jr. High poetry slam. 52 students were chosen by their English teachers to compete for a chance to go to the district competition. The students recited a wide variety of poems, ranging from originals that they had written themselves to popular ones authored by someone else.

The top ten students chosen by the judges to represent SFJHS at the district meet are:

CTE Intro Students Tour Thanksgiving Point

Thanks to a very generous donation to the CTE department 100 of our CTE Intro students were able to tour Thanksgiving Point on April 15, 2013.

The students who went on the field trip participated in a walking tour of Thanksgiving Points farm country, the gardens area, retail shops, and the lobby of the dinosaur museum. The guide that Thanksgiving Point provided informed the students of the various careers involved with each area of the venue as well as educational requirements for each career.
